Kua Number (Ming Gua)
A number from 1 to 9 derived from your birth year and gender that sets your personal lucky directions.
What the Kua Number is
The Kua Number (命卦) links a person to one of the eight trigrams. It is calculated from the birth year (counted from Li Chun) and gender. Number 5 is assigned to 2 for men and 8 for women.
East and West groups
Kua 1, 3, 4 and 9 form the East Group; 2, 6, 7 and 8 form the West Group. Each group shares the same four auspicious and four inauspicious directions.
How to use it
Face an auspicious direction when working, sleep with the head pointing to one, and prefer a main door that opens toward one. The Eight Mansions tool shows the exact mapping.
